British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on Monday, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the loss of his two close friends.”
This update on his health arrives after the global fight fans had expressed sympathy for the fighter in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
