Administration Accused of Attack on Freedom of Expression Following British Journalist Detained
A prominent Islamic civil rights organization has charged the present government of a clear attack to free speech” following national border officials detained British journalist Sami Hamdi on Sunday.
The group stated that Hamdi was taken into custody at San Francisco International airport facility for speaking out against the Israeli continuing military campaign in Gaza. Hamdi is part of a group of people who have been detained and expelled by immigration enforcement for expressing pro-Palestine views.
The Department of Homeland Security announced that Hamdi’s visa had been revoked, and that he was in detention “awaiting deportation.”

British journalist Sami Hamdi was allegedly taken into custody Sunday by federal immigration authorities at San Francisco international airport, and the civil rights group asserts that action is clear retaliation for the Muslim analyst’s comments of Israeli actions while touring the United States.
Comments from the organization labeled it was “an obvious insult to free speech” to hold Hamdi for condemning the Israeli ongoing military operations in the Gaza region while he was involved on a speaking tour. A government representative commented in a different announcement that Hamdi is slated for removal.
